FISTRAL BEACH, Newquay – England (Saturday, August 27, 2011) – The opening day of the ASP 4-Star Quiksilver Pro Junior UK saw three rounds of competition completed in tricky, wind affected 3ft (1.0m) peaks with Europe’s finest male athletes commencing the battle for the ASP European Pro Junior title in this final stop on the ASP Europe Pro Junior series.
A poor forecast showing a rapidly decreasing swell may force event officials to run through to the crowning of this year’s ASP 4-Star Quiksilver Pro Junior UK champion tomorrow despite having until Monday on the official waiting period. With only 16 athletes remaining, the event is well positioned to offer the best conditions for the remainder of the contest.
