Day 3 OAKLEY Pro Junior San Sebastian 2011

The opening day of the ASP Oakley Pro Junior San Sebastian saw two rounds of competition completed in the men’s division with many of Europe’s best up-and-comers doing battle in the tricky 3-4ft wind affected peaks. Strong winds and occasional torrential down pours added to the difficulties experienced by Europe’s best under-21 surfers in their bid to take on the event’s top seeds in the upcoming round.

The ASP Oakley Pro Junior San Sebastian ran through another marathon day of competition to decide quarter-finalists in both men’s and women’s divisions with the level of surfing stepping up into top gear. Europe’s finest male and female athletes tore apart the long lefts and rights in improving 3-4ft waves at the main event site of La Zurriola.

Vasco Ribeiro (Praia da Poca, PRT) 17, has defeated William Aliotti (Saint Martin, FRA) 17, in a low scoring tactical final 13.17 to 10.20 to win the Asp 3-Star Islas Canarias Santa Pro Junior in clean 3ft peaks at the main event site of La Cicer.

Round Three was completed today leaving the final 16 surfers to battle it out for this year’s Asp 3-Star Islas Canarias Santa Pro Junior title. Strong onshore winds abated offering clean 3ft (1m) peaks for some high performance displays of surfing by Europe’s best under-21 athletes at the main event site of La Cicer

The Islas Canarias Santa Pro Junior ran through to complete the Quarter-finals with stand-out surfer William Aliotti (St Martin, FRA) 17, stealing the show to lead favourites into the final day of competition in rippable 3-4ft peaks at the main event site at La Cicer.

The Asp 3-Star Islas Canarias Santa Pro Junior ran through to complete Round Two with standout surfers Dimitri Ouvre (BRB) 19, and Tom Cloarec (FRA) 17, leading the remaining Top Seeds through stormy on-shore conditions in peaky 3-4ft waves at La Cicer.

The ASP 2-Star Airwalk Lacanau Pro Junior, second-to-last event on this year's European men's Junior Series, moved through another twenty-four heats on Day 2 of competition, good three-foot (one meter) surf conditions allowing for a second consecutive exciting show of surf. Hitting back with power and winning a fourth consecutive heat with combination over his opponents, Gabriel Medina (Maresias, BRA) was unstoppable securing a Quarterfinal berth with ease and adding antoher event scoreboa...

Sarah Mason (Gisbourne, NZL) 16, today took out the ASP 2-Star Swatch Girls Pro Junior France over Dimity Stoyle (Sunshine Coast QLD, AUS) 19, it a closely contested 35-minute final that went down to the wire in tricky 3ft (1m) waves at Les Bourdaines.
