Swatch Girls Pro junior Day 1

Sarah Mason (Gisbourne, NZL) 16, today took out the ASP 2-Star Swatch Girls Pro Junior France over Dimity Stoyle (Sunshine Coast QLD, AUS) 19, it a closely contested 35-minute final that went down to the wire in tricky 3ft (1m) waves at Les Bourdaines.

The Swatch Girls Pro Junior France commenced today with two rounds of explosive surfing put on by the finest under-21 athletes with Sarah Mason (Gisbourne, NZL) 16, leading the charge with an incredible display of backhand surfing to claim the single highest wave score of both events, a near perfect 9.50 out of 10.

Another day without competition for the Juniors but some excellent surfing from the girls during the Prime event. Next call for the Junior Girls at 09h00 AM tomorrow morning.

Vasco Ribeiro (Praia da Poca, PRT) 17, today won the ASP 2-Star Oakley Pro Junior San Sebastian while Cannelle Bulard (REU) 17, took out the ASP 1-Star Oakley Pro Junior San Sebastian women's division with commanding performances that left their opponents fighting it out for second place in tricky 2-3ft peaks at the main event site of La Zurriola.

The opening day of the ASP Oakley Pro Junior San Sebastian saw two rounds of competition completed in the men’s division with many of Europe’s best up-and-comers doing battle in the tricky 3-4ft wind affected peaks. Strong winds and occasional torrential down pours added to the difficulties experienced by Europe’s best under-21 surfers in their bid to take on the event’s top seeds in the upcoming round.

Pauline Ado is French and the N°1 European surfer on the ASP Women's World Championship Tour. Although she wasn't born into a surfing family, she received her first surfboard at the age of 8.
